Clyde's Biography

Clyde H. Morgan is the owner of Precision Shooting Center which is located on land at Forest, MS that his father purchased in 1948. Clyde grew up shooting and hunting on that land with his father’s Remington M540 single-shot .22 rifle and an M.G. Stahl double-barreled, 16 gauge shotgun with external hammers that his uncle brought home from Germany after WWII.

Because his father owned a meat market and slaughterhouse, Clyde, while in public school, became proficient at humanely slaughtering hogs and steers using a .22 revolver and .22 rifle. Clyde was on rifle teams at Mississippi State University and in the US Army where he was branch-qualified in Infantry and Military Police.

While in the Army he qualified Expert with the Colt M1911A1 pistol, the Ml Carbine, M1, M14, and M16 Rifles; taught marksmanship; was Officer-in-Charge of rifle ranges; and was an infantry Basic Training company commander. Clyde won rifle competition at the All-Army Matches at Fort Benning, GA, was Mississippi’s High Power Rifle Champion, and was named to the Mississippi Governor’s Top Twenty Shooters.

He was awarded the Army’s Expert Infantryman Badge and the Distinguished Rifleman Badge for Excellence in High Power Rifle Competition. Clyde is the only Mississippi Reservist to receive the US Army’s Distinguished Rifleman Badge since its inception in 1884. Clyde was in his third year at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary when the TET Offensive began in Vietnam in 1868.

He voluntarily returned to active duty to serve in Vietnam as an infantry company commander, fighting to help save seventeen million Vietnamese from Communism. Clyde was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal and three decorations for Valor.

After returning home he was a consultant to the Army Research Institute at Fort Benning, GA, to help improve the Army’s Basic Rifle Marksmanship Training Program. He is a graduate of the Army’s Basic and Advanced Infantry Courses, Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.

Clyde’s civilian education includes degrees in Geology, Religious Education, Social Work and a Doctorate in Adult Education and Criminal Justice. He taught or was an administrator at five colleges or universities; employed by the Police Foundation in Texas; a Corrections parole officer or administrator in two states; an adjunct instructor at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy and a Mississippi Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.

Clyde is a USCCA Handgun Instructor and the first person in Mississippi certified as an Enhanced Concealed Carry Weapon Instructor. Clyde’s hobbies have included reloading for his handguns and rifles; sport caving; sport parachuting; reading and writing articles for publication.
